THE TICKING TIMEBOMB OF THE FORD TRANSIT

Protect your Ford Transit 2.0L EcoBlue Engine with a Professional Wet Belt Replacement. Don't wait for failure!

Warning Signs

Ticking or rattling on startup? Lack of turbo boost or strange wirring noisies? Brake pedal hard to press? Engine cranking but not starting? Sudden engine stall?

Failure Cost!

When (not if) the Ford Transit wet belt fails, it doesn’t just snap, it destroys the whole engine. This incurs upwards of a £4500 engine replacement bill along with downtime for you.

The Fix?

We replace the whole wet belt system including both internal belts, fluids as needed, new oil and filter, all required stretch bolts, timing cover, oil sump, oil strainer, etc… All with genuine Ford parts.

The Whole Story

Ford’s 2.0 EcoBlue diesel engine in 2017‑ onwards Transit and Transit Custom vans uses a “wet” timing belt that runs inside the engine oil. This design is quiet and efficient, but it is also known to wear and fail much earlier than originally expected due to the rubber being constantly exposed to oil.

Sadly, this design has a track record of failing much earlier than Ford’s official guidance suggests. That’s why we strongly recommend replacing it sooner to avoid unexpected and costly problems.

Ford has reduced the recommended replacement interval from around 150,000 miles / 10 years to closer to 100,000 miles / 6 years. Many independant specialists advise replacement from 60,000 miles / 5 years for peace of mind.

Our Service

Firstly, we use genuine Ford timing parts and the correct Ford oil. We look after your Ford Transit in a fully equipt workshop – not on your driveway. We will provide full paperwork and photographs to prove that the job has been done.

Strip & Clean Down

Your van will be stripped and cleaned around the working area to ensure no contamination into the new components.

Old oils and fluids will be drained as required. The old timing cover and oil sump is removed and timing gear checked and locked. We then remove the old belts and continue cleaning inside your engine.

Re-Build

We then fit a new genuine timing belt and tensioner, oil pump belt, oil strainer, timing cover, crank shaft seal and oil sump (including a new plug and washer). We also fit a new water jacket bleed bolt.

We carry on re-building your engine with a new water pump belt, auxilary belt, engine mount stretch bolts and crank stretch bolt. The final re-assembly takes place.

Finishing Touches

Because the timing cover and oil sump are both bonded on using glue, we have to allow these to dry.

Lastly your van is filled with new Ford engine oil along with a new Ford oil filter and any coolant topped up as required.

A road test is completed and then we carry out a complementary DPF regeneration.
